Networks

Network- a group of computers linked together. To transfer information between the computers. Share resources, like printer. To store or save data to a single point.

Peer to peer- simplest and cheapest method of networking. Basically connecting one machine to the next. All operations are occurring on the local machine. All it takes is a network card in each computer and a network cable.

Non peer networks- need a server and client. Computers connected together where a server(s) controls client(s).

Environment: Workgroup and domain.
Difference is how users are controlled. In a workgroup users are controlled at the local level. In a domain the users are controlled from the server level, you need a special software

Protocol- language used by comps to recognize each other. Netbeui and TCP/IP are types.
